You’re probably familiar with the ‘goldfish’ analogy when it comes to human attention spans.  We all know we’ve got very little time to capture a web visitor’s interest enough to make them stay, but this stat has huge implications:

“It takes about 50 milliseconds (that’s 0.05 seconds) for users to form an opinion about your website that determines whether they like it or not[i]

That’s as measured by three studies assessing the human visual appeal of web pages; and yes, it seems a little extreme and it’s not going to be true for every instance.  But it got us thinking…

It’s not just about mobile though, as 88% of customers are unlikely to return to any website after a bad experience[i]; 44% actively tell their friends and family all about it[ii]… that’s one time you don’t want them talking about you!
