There’s a saying that personality is more important than looks, and when it comes to dating that’s good advice! However, in the world of branding, the two go hand in hand.
Of course, it’s important that your brand looks great, and you want to keep things consistent and ‘on message’, from the colour scheme and imagery all the way to the smaller details like the fonts everyone uses across collateral, and even correspondence.
But there’s more to branding than just appearances.
To be successful, a brand needs substance – that ‘je ne sais quois’ which makes you stand out from your competitors, makes your prospects want to buy from you, and keeps them coming back for more.
We’ve been helping clients build stunning brands for 20 years; you can see just a few of them in our projects gallery here. And whether you’re developing a brand from scratch, or you just want to give your brand a bit of a refresh, assessing yourself is always the best place to start! (We help all our clients to do this too).
It can be scary and it’s definitely difficult to do objectively (believe us, we did it for ourselves just last year), but ask yourself the following questions:
- What is the purpose of my business?
- And the vision?
- What are my favourite colours?
- How can I incorporate my passions into my business?
- What are my business’s core strengths?
- What are my clients pain points?
- How does/will my business solve these?
- What are my values?
- What makes me tick?
- Which 3 words best describe my personality?
If you’ve got all (or even some) of the answers, you’re in a good place to move forward and we’d love to help you bring your brand to life!
You might be surprised to hear that it’s not just a logo that makes a brand.
Everything else from the packaging you use to your office, the way your employees dress and even how the telephone is answered all tell your customers something about your brand, its values and aspirations, or sadly, in some cases, the apparent lack of them.
One of our favourite phrases is your brand should reflect the way you do business. If it looks like you don’t care, then your customers will believe you don’t! Simple as that.
Yes, you certainly want a brand that visually appeals to your customers, but be sure to follow through with a genuine, helpful and personal service that reflects who you are and gives your customers a truly exceptional brand experience to remember.
A brand overhaul could completely transform your business.
